Apostolic Christian School (ACS)

History
Apostolic Christian School (ACS) is a non-profit, private school, located in Lafayette, Louisiana. The school was founded in November 1993 by the late Bishop J.H. Broussard and his wife. In 2000, Rev. S.D. Schwing became the pastor and overseer of The Apostolic Church of Lafayette; ACS is a part of the ministry of The Apostolic Church of Lafayette.
Mission
The mission of Apostolic Christian School is to provide an excellent, Christian education for our students in an atmosphere of holy, Godly living, so as to prepare them for a successful future both spiritually and naturally.
We believe that God has a plan that will ultimately unfold for each individual child in our care. “Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord…” (Psalms 127:3). An adage we often say is that acorns and caterpillars become oak trees and butterflies.
Faculty and Staff
The faculty and staff at ACS participate in various continued educational programs including onsite training and observations at the Teacher’s Clinic and Summer Seminar hosted by Abeka. Online continued training is offered as well.
The faculty and staff are dedicated to the mission of the school. Providing a quality classroom experience for all of our students based on the school’s mission and the details of the curriculum is part of each staff member’s focus and daily objectives.
Curriculum
ACS offers grades K5 – 12th in addition to being the host site of Eagle’s Nest Daycare and Preschool. Students have Bible class in the mornings with chapel afforded to the 6th through 12th grades collectively on Fridays. After Bible classes, students participate in classes in a culminating college preparatory environment using the world-renown Abeka curriculum.
Generally speaking, kindergartners graduate K5 knowing how to read and write both in manuscript and cursive forms. Upon high school graduation, students are prepared for college, vocational school, or entry into the work force. Our mission-focused, emotionally nurturing, and academically rigorous environment has yielded tremendous results over the years.
Facilities
Having recently moved to the permanent location on a beautiful 23+ acre tract of land at 300 Town Center Parkway, the school continues to grow and develop in a variety of ways. Our facility was designed with a host of security features and mechanisms to help ensure the safety of our students and staff.
The state-of-the-art laboratory was designed based on university-level facilities. The library is spacious and offers a brand-new computer lab with high-speed wireless with a fiber optic backbone. The cafeteria facility, currently being used for The Apostolic Church of Lafayette services while the sanctuary is being completed, affords a spacious area and a world-class kitchen. The playground is brand new and provides for a safe experience for students.
Conclusion
ACS celebrates its 30-year birthday in 2023. Truly, we have so much to be thankful for as we reflect upon our past, work in the present, and contemplate the future. God has been so good to us; we are incredibly thankful that He smiled upon us.
